Job Summary

The AECOM Ground Engineering and Tunnelling team is dynamic and collaborative within New Zealand and across the world. There is plenty of scope to develop your career, gain exposure to global mega –projects through our global mobility opportunities as well as to work on the full range of projects in the North & South Island across the infrastructure sector.

Our work covers input to a wide range of project types and will involve field investigations, analysis, reporting and project management. We have a wide range of work shaping New Zealand's landscape including hallmark major projects, as a result we are seeking an Engineering geologist and an experienced team lead keen to get involved in these and more.

The role will appeal to those with experience in the following:

  • Manage client relationships and actively involved in business development and winning work

  • Delivery of complex projects and meeting deadlines

  • Mentoring and providing career development for junior team members

  • Undertake or/ and lead design of projects (as required) from conception through completion, including but not limited to:

  • feasibility studies

  • preliminary, concept and detailed design

  • evaluation of alternatives, design development and preparation of schedules of quantities

  • preparation of tender/contract documents

  • administration of contracts and construction monitoring

Minimum Requirements

  • 15+ years relevant experience preferably in NZ of which a minimum of 3 - 5 years worth of experience should be leading a team

  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and meeting delivery requirements

  • Experience in successfully leading project teams

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, and the ability to develop a strong client base

  • Strong team leader with excellent interpersonal skills, who is able to work with and support staff

  • An effective leader with tenacity and drive to achieve outstanding results

  • Collaborates with technical staff in other regions / geographies for delivery of services

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; report writing, development of proposals

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to develop relationships

  • Good understanding of NZ geology and geological history especially for Auckland

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in geology or engineering geology

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications
