Key Responsibilities

The Shopper Development Manager is responsible for taking commercial strategies and from these developing retail environment specific strategies & plans to deliver profitable growth within Foodstuffs. This position is responsible for developing and supporting the partnership between CP and Foodstuffs by aligning our category/brand strategies and Foodstuffs shopper strategies to support the attainment of Colgate & Foodstuffs business objectives.

5P Establishment & Deployment

  • Appropriately tailoring the 5Ps for the Foodstuffs retail environment through Retail Category Development principles, alignment with customer strategies and customer-specific shopper insight.

  • Driving the category review process to execute Foodstuffs specific category management plans

  • Completing pre- and post-evaluation of all activities in partnership withCDTFinance and CDM (results vs. objective, implementation accuracy, P&L impact etc). Analysis completed with qualitative commentary and recommendations for refinement of customer strategy & tactics, and presented to the commercial team for review.

Commercial and Business Planning Process

  • Providing the retail environment perspective on commercial strategy at commercial meetings

  • Identify growth opportunities within Foodstuffs by assessing customer performance for Colgate and Total Category vs. benchmarks.

  • Communicating changes of 5P’ to Foodstuffs CDT & all key stakeholders within Colgate (eg logistics, demand, field etc) and monitoring implementation

  • Working in partnership with Retail Marketing to actively monitor 5P performance at RE level & taking actions were appropriate

  • Working withCDT, Finance & Demand Planning to manage internal KPI’s (eg Net Sales,GTN, ASP, Margin ) & accurate demand forecasting

Business Development

  • Drive fact-based decision-making, improve promotional ROI and overall business performance for CP and the customer

  • Lead Joint Business Planning process with both Regions and create National alignment where appropriate

People Management

  • Effectively coach and mentor CDMs and more junior members of the team.

  • Ensure team goals and objectives are clear and ensure delivery of these while building Colgate & the Customers’ mutual business interests
