Role Summary:

The Operations Manager provides leadership and support for the implementation, development and direction of Cell culture operation teams. The position implements actions to improve product and process quality, as well as accelerating and support cultural change efforts aimed at achieving organizational goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Effectively managing and developing multiple departments within the operations team; facilities, logistics & manufacturing

• Monitoring and improving productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality and cost-conscious manner

• Developing and creating training plans to maximize workforce capability

• Leading compliance, as well as Environmental, Health and Safety efforts in support of plant goals

• Actively participate in LEAN manufacturing implementation

• Exercise direct supervision over the Teams with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production. Meeting production schedules and delivery dates

• Develop and maintain a productive team environment

Quality Specific Goals:

  1. Aware of and comply with the GE Healthcare Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position

  2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines

  3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

  4. Responsible for complying with full Quality System Regulation and current Good Manufacturing Practices requirements

  5. Maintaining full regulatory compliance and other legal requirements

  6. Knowledge and understanding of production process, work instructions and operates within them to ensure specifications are conformed to.

  7. Ensures the creation of accurate, complete and timely records and PCD’s

  8. Involvement in strategic corporate planning via membership of the NZ Management team

  9. Coach and promote professional development of members of the Manufacturing, Logistics and Facilities teams.

  10. Responsible for complying with current Good Manufacturing Procedures (CGMP) and the New Zealand regulatory requirements whilst maintaining complete and full traceability

  11. Maintain efficient workflow in operational areas.

  12. Participate in the planning of customer projects for pricing, facility, processing, staffing and volume requirements

  13. Liaise with team to ensure all Health and Safety procedures and training is completed

  14. Complete staff performance appraisals and annual reviews

  15. Assist with hosting customer audits

  16. Prepare reports, budgets and forecasts as required


  • Bachelor’s (Relevant) Degree with 3 years production, supply chain experience or leadership or High School Diploma or local equivalent and 7 years production and supply chain experience, or proven relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement Best Practices and deal with high levels of ambiguity
