Hilton Executive Chef in Auckland, New Zealand

In your new role you as Executive Chef,you will be fully responsible for developing the reputation of the hotel through the production of excellent quality food throughout the hotel, and the development of a high quality kitchen team, whilst settingthe highest standards of food hygiene. Our Executive Chef will oversee the operational management of the Conference & Events space, Bellini Bar, In Room Dining as well as the Breakfast team in FISH restaurant.

Duties/responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen team; including the stewarding team and ensure their on-going development
  • Identify an effective approach to succession planning
  • Design menus
  • Ensure consistency in the quality of all dishes and compliance with Brand Standards and Hilton Icons concepts
  • Develop positive customer relations through proactive interaction with Guests, Team Members, contractors, and suppliers
  • Resolve, promptly and completely, any issues that may arise in the kitchen or related areas among Guests and Team Members
  • Manage department operations, including budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and waste management
  • Ensure the highest possible standard of hygiene is practiced and maintained to meet Health & Safety regulations and HACCP food preparation guidelines

What are we looking for?

  • Previous, relevant experience as an Executive Chef or a high-performing Sous Chef in a first class property
  • The ability to work alongside the Restaurant Head Chef to achieve a harmonise work environment
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • A creative approach to the production of high quality food
  • A business focused approach to managing a hotel kitchen
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships, internal and external, to the hotel and the Company
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • A current, valid, and relevant trade qualification
  • A certification in management is preferred
  • Proficiency with computers and computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
